Two of my very close friends, Marion and Karen, are the reason this site exists. I hope that you will pay a visit to their beautiful, inspirational site on breast cancer, called Breast Cancer DIY.
My name is Mike, and I am what they call a co-survivor. My beautiful wife Joyce was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer in January of 2007. Shortly after we were diagnosed, I became involved with an event called The Atlanta Breast Cancer 3-Day.
This event played a big part in helping me get through this first year of what will be a never ending battle against breast cancer.
The hundreds of people that I have done training walks with became my support group. They have been there for me to "unload" on, they have listened to me tell my story over and over, they have hugged me and held me when I have been unable to hold the tears back, they have been my release valve. They have enabled me to stay strong for Joyce, and to keep a positive attitude throughout some difficult times so far. I love them one and all.
I have committed myself to doing everything in my power to help find a cure for breast cancer, which means I will be doing the Susan G Komen for the Cure Breast Cancer 3Day Walks from now until that cure is found. Secondly, it is my goal to bring awareness of Breast Cancer and the importance of early detection, to as many people as I can. Hopefully this site, and my story posted here will help bring about that awareness.
The following pages contain Newsletters that I sent out to my donors of the 2007 Atlanta 3-Day.
Early detection can save a life, and everyone deserves a life time.
